Drug Overdose Prevention Substance Use Disorder Bystander Training
In this innovation project, the principles and methods of bystander training for sexual violence prevention are translated to an opioid-specific harm reduction strategy for bystander prevention.
The curriculum will focus on informing university staff about how to recognize situations or behaviors that may be associated with opioid-related and other drug stigma, harm reduction, and substance misuse or abuse among students, family, and friends.
This bystander approach is intended to empower academic advisers with a skillset of tools to intervene and provide support and resources as needed to students and their communities.
