Injuries are the leading cause of death and disability to U.S. children from 1 to 18 years old. Every day, 20 children die nationwide from preventable injuries, resulting in more deaths than all other diseases combined. In fact, injury is the leading cause of death for people through 44 years of age.

On Thursday, November 18, 2021, the country’s leading injury and violence prevention organizations and health professionals are joining forces for the second annual “National Injury Prevention Day.”

At 1 p.m. eastern, everyone is invited to take part in a live national conversation about the country’s top injury and violence concerns during a one-hour Twitter chat using the hashtag: #BeInjuryFree. And then when the sun goes down on the 18th, hospitals, landmarks, businesses, monuments, neighborhoods, and government offices are being asked to shine a green light to raise awareness about the need the need for change.
