Lara Daniels, MPH
Epidemiologist
Programs
Lara Daniels graduated from the University of Louisville School of Public Health and Information Sciences with a Master of Public Health in 2015. They served as an epidemiologist at the Kentucky Department for Public Health Tobacco Control and Prevention program for two years before joining the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center at the University of Kentucky in 2019.
As of 2024, Lara has ten years of experience in surveillance and reporting, data analysis, data visualization, and database management. They are skilled in SAS, GIS, R, Tableau, and REDCap.
In their current role, they serve as Kentucky's Lead Epidemiologist for the Overdose Data 2 Action CDC grant. They supervise a team of three epidemiologists and conduct drug overdose fatality surveillance & research. They are an active member of the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) and serve on the Cannabis Subcommittee.
