Program Coordinator

Robert McCool is a program coordinator at the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC). He has extensive experience in public health injury prevention and has served as principal investigator and/or program manager for numerous prevention projects in terrorism preparedness, traffic safety, child passenger safety, pedestrian safety, and residential fire injury prevention. He also has experience in evaluation design and program evaluation. Robert is also a regional program coordinator for substance use and drug overdose prevention.

In addition to his injury prevention work, Robert is a part-time law enforcement officer, a volunteer firefighter and rescue technician, and an emergency medical technician. He has served in volunteer leadership roles, including service on corporate boards, for a variety of non-profit organizations. He is a public health and public safety instructor and course developer who is a graduate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Master Trainer program. Robert was the 2018 recipient of the Kentucky Governor's Volunteer Service Award in the Lifetime Achievement category and the AARP's 2018 Kentucky Andrus Award for Community Service.
